The New LauraReaux.com is Live!

I'm very excited to announce that my website - LauraReaux.com - is back up and running after some hosting problems I was having.  Once I'm done setting everything up (portfolio and all), it will be a blog and site all in one.  I will keep this blog as a personal blog the way it was a couple of years ago, to write more about my kids and our daily life.  The blog will be a place to post details about Laura Reaux Photography, special projects, sneak peeks of photo sessions that I do, and fun discussions here and there.  I am thrilled to finally have a blog dedicated to LRP and super happy about {This is my life} being a strictly personal blog again.

Christmas Card Mini Sessions

 

It's Christmas time!!  Ok... not quite, but it is time to start booking mini sessions for Christmas cards.  These are not your traditional pull-down backdrop, flashing Christmas sweater, folded hands portraits.  It IS 20 minutes of your family playing, hugging, laughing, silly faces, eyes shut, breathing each other in, and making a snapshot of how you really feel about each other.  Your final pictures may or may not include everyone looking my way, but they will be real and true.

• Date:  Saturday, November 7, 2009
• Location:  Still unknown
• I am scheduling twelve 20-minute sessions; six morning and six afternoon
• $50 session fee at the time of booking
• You then choose your card/print package(s):
• • 25 cards for $100
  • 50 cards for $150
  • 75 cards for $200
  • 100 cards for $250
• Balance for your package will be due at the time of your session
• Cards will be 5x7 folding cards, or can be substituted with 3.5x5 prints to place inside your own cards
• Added note: cards will be printed on thick art linen paper stock and will come with high-quality linen envelopes
• Exactly one week after the sessions, you will view 5-10 images in an online gallery
• You will have one week to select what images you want for your card and will have your card within a week.

Here are the cards you will have to choose from.  I am in LOVE with them all!

Baby makes 3

I'm not sure if I have ever met a happier, more giggly expecting mama!  I love being pregnant (obviously... I did it four times) and it's so sweet helping other families save these memories forever.  Magen, carrying your little girl seems so natural for you.  You look radiant and even Ricky seems to be completely ready for the role of Daddy.  I'm thrilled for you guys and I can't wait to meet your little princess!

Facebook Friends

I was really looking forward to getting together with Kim and Bryan and their lovely little ones.  When I was hanging out with them this week for their session, we laughed about how many of us are "Facebook friends" - people you only see on Facebook - and how funny it is that we all feel like we're such good friends.  Some people gripe about how we live in an impersonal age.  An age of emails and text messages instead of phone calls and house calls.  I, for one, am glad that we live in this technological time.  Technology has enabled us to get in touch with friends that we haven't seen or talked to in years, or even decades.

Kim, I'm glad we're Facebook friends!  Otherwise, I may not have had the pleasure of spending time with your precious family this week.  I hope little Miss is feeling better today.

Baby Boy

I spent some time this week with a sweet baby boy.  He is five-weeks-old (only one week younger than my twins).  Mom claimed she wasn't very creative, but she so was!  She and Dad had some great ideas for me and we were able to get most of them, I think.  Here is a quick sneak peek before I head to bed to snuggle with my own little ones.

 

 

Young Love

It seems like so long ago that Jeromy & I were this age.  I remember it so well though.  Joel is my little cousin (who is a foot taller than me!) and I thought it was so sweet when he called to hire me to take pictures of him and his girlfriend Alicia.  They are both so sweet and it was so fun to just relax and goof off for an hour.  I have to admit that they make me feel old.  Ouch.

Ten Weeks Later

You might remember this sweetheart that I took photos of when she was five-weeks-old (along with her family).

Fast forward ten weeks, and her Mom was ready for updated photos.  I was super happy to see her again and she was even more adorable, if that's possible!  No matter how sleepy she was or how much she spit up (and boy does that little one spit up often!), she was all smiles and loved the camera.  Mom and Dad, you just might have a future model on your hands!

 

I Am Thankful

Quick list of things I am thankful for today:

1.  a healthy family
2.  an amazing "job" - J-O-B just doesn't seem to fit when you love doing something so much
3.  hot chocolate
4.  new music
5.  faith (believing that Pilot & Finn will sleep longer than usual tonight)
