We had a pretty crazy week. I want this week to be much better, so I decided to start off right. One of my favorite bloggers, Emily Falconbridge, does something every now and then that I love. When she needs a pick-me-up, she walks around her home taking pictures of things that make her happy. So, I did the same this morning.
My favorite mug, and freshly-brewed pot of coffee behind it
Some fabric that I picked up this weekend to make cloth wipes.
The coolest kids EVER! (and yes, I told them to hug)
My new sewing machine!! (Thank you my wonderful hubby and Pam and Jeff!)
Today is going to be a wonderful, happy day... no matter how many times I have to clean up pee-pee (Ella is potty training) or how many meltdowns we are faced with. I think I will buy one of these prints soon. :)
About our crazy week... My wonderful mother-in-law had gallbladder surgery last Monday and she has had complications. She is in the hospital for the 2nd time after surgery, and is in severe pain when her medication wears off. They are doing more tests to see if they can figure out what is causing her pain, but just keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Also, Jeromy was on the way to the hospital to visit her on Friday and he got into a car accident. He is fine, just a bit sore, but his truck didn't fare so well. So also pray that God will provide another vehicle for us through all of it. In the mean time, the kids and I will be home a lot. :::Breeeaaaathe::: hehe
I'm finding lately that we are all pretty happy to be home during the week. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that our weekends have become fairly busy. I just know that being here feels pretty cozy these days. We have been playing a lot, reading a lot, and just acting plain silly. I really love being a Mommy. I love being a wife, too. The housewife part is something that I am still working on. I'm getting a handle on laundry for five people finally. Whew!
I realized today that I haven't been taking many pictures of the kids. The more I take photos professionally, the less I seem to take them just for fun. That is really, really not what I want to happen. So here are a few from today, just playing in the living room as usual.
One fun thing we did today was make orange slushies! Camden and I attempted to make this yesterday, but it ended up just coming out as orange juice. Today we got it right! 3 peeled oranges + 8-10 ice cubes = slushy orange goodness!!
Has it really been 9 days since my last post? I have been a neglectful blog Mom. I hope you will forgive me some day. We have been super busy lately, and having really great days and some so-so days. Want to see what we've been up to? I thought you might.
Lots of reading! We have been making trips to the library and the book store. The kids and I love having new books to read every few days. We climb on the sofa, get cozy together and dive in to a few at a time. It is one of our favorite afternoon activities.
Another major interest of mine as of late is the raw/living food diet. It's not a "diet" like you may be thinking... more a way of life. Here is a link to get you started if you're a little curious: Raw Food FAQ. I love that I am putting into my body what was originally intended for my body, nothing artificial, when I eat raw food. I have been eating raw during the day and then having whatever I want for dinner. It's a good start! Along with that, I have been drinking green smoothies! YUM! I am seriously loving that. So much so, actually, that I am participating in a 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge.
My first green smoothie was really good and was an easy transition for someone not used to drinking their greens. I blended together 2 bananas, 1 cup of strawberries, 2 cups of water, and 2 handfuls of romaine lettuce. If you want to try it out for yourself, click on the little banner above for some recipes!
In that pitcher was my first try at almond milk. Maya had already been drinking store-bought almond milk, and this is so easy and more affordable. I'm working on acquiring a taste for it. ;) I'm trying to cut out most dairy here. On to something fun and cutesy!
Remember the felt house that I promised to post a picture of forever ago? Here it is! I made a little pillow in the shape of a house for Ella, just for fun. I especially like the pink stitching around the edges. Fun, right?
The kids and I went to story time at the library this morning and I was so happy to see that you can borrow music CDs. I had no idea! I picked up a few of them for the kids, but my absolute favorite was Bedtime With the Beatles. What cool lullaby music for little ones. Right?
After lunch with my Mom we also made a stop at Goodwill. Found a couple of shirts for the kids and a CD for me - The Best of Jimmy Durante! This is the best part though... check out these awesome little people. I popped the CD in as soon as we got home and Camden walks up to Ella, hand outstretched and says, "May I have this dance?" Ella beams with delight and grabs his hands.
