I'm still working on it. As goes life. Right?
I did manage to get my desk mostly cleared off. At least I can breathe and think a little. A much better environment for working on business taxes. So much fun. Ptthhh. And I did get some photo work done. I seriously need to revamp my system for that stuff.
About that tornado...
Here is what it looks like about a quarter-mile from my house:
We are so blessed that it wasn't us. Jeromy woke up early Thursday morning by some bad weather. He turned the TV on just in time to see that we were under a tornado warning, and then the power went out. He heard the wind pick up, and got Camden out of his bed (his room has 5 windows) and brought him into ours (no windows) where Ella and I were sleeping. Then water started leaking a little into our bedroom and we all went into the living room. We were without power for the first half of the day. Once the rain stopped, he left to go CVS near here to get us snacks and he saw all of this mess and our road was blocked by trees. It's so strange, because we aren't used to having tornadoes around here like that... but we're very used to hurricanes and watching for them for at least a week before hand. (I keep Weather.com's hurricane web page bookmarked from June - November.) There are other areas that were affected even more, and a state of emergency was issued for one parish (counties, in other states). So keep these families in your thoughts and prayers as they pick up the pieces. And thank God that we were spared!
ETA: What happened with the two houses above is one of the roofs was torn off of one house and thrown onto the other. Crazy stuff!
Something like . . .
The textiles, colors, and natural light in this room make me incredibly happy. And now I'm off to bed to read for about two minutes before falling asleep, but first, a to-do list for tomorrow....
I just finished putting towels washing, cloth diapers drying, and the dishwasher running and... I am going to go to bed by 12:30! Not 3:30am, not 2:00am... 12:30! I am so proud of myself.
Of course, I should have actually gone to bed hours ago since Jeromy and I got very little sleep last night. Maya was awake screaming all night. Praying that it doesn't happen again tonight!
I walked into the kids' room today (they were being suspiciously quiet) to see this! All three of them had keyboards and were playing together. I was amazingly thrilled, and surprised, and I ran to grab my camera! They do have musical genes, from my side of the family and Jeromy has as much passion for music as I do. They are 4, 3 and 1... imagine us looking at this and laughing when they are in their twenties! Music has always been such a big part of my life. I wrote my first song at the age of 9. So seeing my kids into music in any way makes my heart soar. I'm seeing Camden become more musical, singing a lot and mouthing drum beats, lately. I hope to be able to really nurture that and help them tune into their musical creativity even earlier than I did. Creating and just enjoying music is such a fulfilling aspect of life, even if you only do it at home or in the car. Of course, if music isn't their thing... that's fine, too. Personally, I think music makes life richer for everyone... whether you like to perform it or just listen to it.
I was able to take Camden to therapy alone today. Just the two of us. We were still in the driveway when he said "It'll be fun just you and me!" He's seriously the COOLEST little guy I know. (Yeah, yeah... I know I'm biased.) It was awesome to just hang out with him alone. We stopped at Target on the way home and got treats and just goofed off in the store. Personally, I think Target is one of the funnest places to goof off. Just holding his hand while he still thinks I'm cool and getting random smooches from him made my day a great one. I hope we will always be this close. And I just can't stop thinking of this one thing... if he is this cool of a person at 4, how awesome will he be when he's older?
One thing is for sure... he is SILLY, just like his Mom!
